THE TOP 75 CELEBRITIES WHOSE EXISTENCE SO OFFENDS ME THAT JUST LOOKING AT A PICTURE OF THEM MAKES ME WANT TO COMMIT RANDOM ACTS OF VIOLENCEā„¢

#51: Melanie Griffith

Has Melanie Griffith ever been on Inside The Actor's Studio? Because if so, I'd really like to see the part of the show where James Lipton goes apeshit over Melanie's dynamite acting ability as displayed in this clip. God, that voice...it's like nails on a friggin chalkboard! Damnit, just thinking about hearing her voice has instilled in me the almost uncontrollable urge to stand on the roof of a building above a crowd, yell "Hey! Look Up Here!", and then pour out the contents of a huge box of thumbtacks and hope I catch one or two of them in the eyeball.

Is that so wrong? Well, is it??

I can't recall if I ever had any interest in / respect for Melanie Griffith before 1992. That was the year I saw the interview in which, as chronicled in this link, she "explain[ed] how her role in the film 'Shining Through' opened her eyes to World War II history: 'I didn't know that six million Jews were killed (in the Nazi Holocaust). That's a lot of people'."

She.
Didn't.
Know.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Melanie Griffith: award-winning, ignorant embarrassment. (Although she did get a sort of karmic comeuppance for her on-screen performance.)

It's interesting to note that writer/director David Seltzer (career highpoint, The Omen...hmmm, significant?) did not direct again until the recent spate of child endangerment titles:

Sabine and the Two-Headed Baby (2004)
Nobody's Baby (2001)

plus: "Veteran feature film writer David Seltzer crafts the vivid events foretelling The End of Days in NBC's Revelations."

So is he some kind of religious nut? There is a cadre of Xtian apologists in Hollywood. How'd that work out?

She's good as a teenager in Night Moves. I would highly recommend it, but I know my opinion counts for less than most of these 75.

In her resume, for every Something Wild, there's a Cherry 2000.
